CUT TO: the car pulls up to a hotel on the beach and parks. MAIN Allright, I'll grab the room, you guys grab me a drink and I'll meet ya at the bar there, then we'll go to the party SIS Cool. The trio starts across the street to a bar/casino. Main enters the Margarita Hotel, and walks to the front desk CUT TO: SIS brings a pitcher and four glasses to the table where BAR1 and BAR2 are seated. BAR2 Man, I can't wait to get to the party, I'm gonna get laid SIS You know this ahead of time? BAR1 Sure! It's called confidence. Women eat it up. SIS Do they? CUT TO: MAIN is walking down a corridor carrying towels and two keys. As he passes the glass windows of the pool area, he sees a beautiful girl get out of the pool. He smiles at her, as she looks uninterested. He continues towards the sound of piano music, he enters to see that it's a bar. Happily he takes a seat at the bar. MAIN Hello. Dry Martini please. As the bartender leaves he looks around to see an old man sitting to his left. MAIN Hi there. Here on business? OLD MAN Nope, it's me and the wife's anniversary. Twentieth. Bartender places drink in front of main. MAIN (lifting his glass in mock toast) Oh, sorry. OLD MAN (toasting) Don't be. She's a great woman Embarrassed, Main hands the bartender a ten, and slams his drink. MAIN (to bartender) Keep the change. (to old man) Congratulations. Main starts to walk out when he pauses in front of the piano player and listens. He pulls out a ten and places it in the pianists empty tip jar. MAIN Nat King Cole. His gaze pans from the piano to the door where in walks SWIM GIRL. He starts to approach her as if in a daze. The pianist grins widely, and shakes his head. MAIN Hi there. Can I buy ya a drink? SWIM GIRL You can buy me a car, doesn't mean I'll talk to ya. MAIN Well, let's just start with a drink. BARTENDER Evening, Helena, the usual? MAIN I got it, and another Martini. (to Helena) So, you live around here? HELENA Yes. Let me guess, you're obviously not here on business… so that would make you one of those libido boys who drive here from D.C. and Baltimore thinking they're gonna get lucky with some beach blanket bimbo. MAIN (shaken) Huh? Uh, Oh No, no. I'm visiting a friend. HELENA Then why are you sitting in the piano room alone? MAIN Oh, they're across the street, I just stopped in cuz I heard the music when I checked in. Yeah, I got a big night ahead of me, thought a martini..you, know Bartender sets down drinks, Main pays. He holds up his glass for a toast. MAIN Here's to your beauty. HELENA Here's to your pathetic, formulaic approach. Shot down, Main slams his drink, gathers his keys, and looks at his watch. MAIn Well, Gotta go. Nice meeting you. Maybe see ya around later. She stares straight ahead, as he walks out with his tail between his legs. CUT TO: OUTSIDE Main crosses the street, squinting from the light change. He sighs. MAIN Fuckin' Twilight Zone. CUT TO: BAR Main walks in and glances around, then goes and takes a seat at the table.
