1414 Drunken St.

John Rohner

As I walk lonely
down drunken street
at all the types of
lonely that I meet
"looks like this could be the end"
I say to the bottle-
my best friend
It's a lovely night
to die
Fred and Ginger singing under the light
but I see six
I try with all my might
to see me and you
when we were two
no one looking lonely
just you looking lovely
and me loving you

Remember walking in the rain,
hand in hand-soaking wet
Now I cry with a bottle
all alone-and soaking wet
a picture in my pocket
I dare not see
as i stroll to
1414 Drunken street
I'm going home
where there's no pain
I'm going home
where there's only rain
I'm going home.
